Hey, where have you been?

I’m just kidding : )

I know I’ve been MIA but listen, you know when you don’t hear from me for
a while I’m somewhere working….and working I have been!

I just finished "Why Did I Get Married Too!" and all I have to say is….I
can’t wait for April to get here! You’ll see what I mean. All the original
cast is back and Janet Jackson brought the pain in this film. I’m so proud
of her. As we get closer, I'll talk more about it. I kid you not, you're
going to be like, "Tyler was so right. This one is even better than the
first one!"

You know what else? I have decided to have Facebook and Twitter pages. BUT
WAIT! Before you run to Facebook and Twitter, READ all of this email.
THERE IS SOMETHING I WANT YOU TO SEE AT THE END of it! : )

Can you believe I'm turning the big 4-0 in a few weeks?! I'm so grateful
to God for 40, especially when I think about how I grew up and that most
of my friends from high school are either dead or in jail. But look at how
good God has been. Sometimes I can't even take it in. I mean, when I think
back on where I came from, and all the things that tried to take me out or
destroy me, all I can say is Only God…Only God. I know that a lot of you
know what I'm saying right here, I can almost hear you agreeing with me.

What I do know for sure is, if I can come through all that I went through
and make it, anybody can make it. Don't let anybody stop you, my friends,
no matter how dark it seems, keep moving forward. That is the key. Prayer,
surrender and keep moving. Just don't stop moving forward, no matter how
small the steps…forward is forward. Believe in yourself, even if the
people that love you don't. I better let that go.

I think you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about in November
when "Precious" comes out. This movie is so close to what I went through
at home growing up, I couldn't believe it. When you see it you'll really
know what I mean when I say that I'm so glad I made it through.

But even before "Precious" hits, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" comes out on
September 11th…..my birthday weekend! (a nice birthday gift for me would
be seeing all y'all going to the movie - smile). You will laugh, you will
feel good, you will shout and rejoice! Go see this film! Gladys Knight is
singing the house down, Pastor Marvin Winans is preaching and singing and
giving me chills every time I watch it (and I have watched it over and
over and over).

I love the music in this film, it is amazing. Just like in "Diary" with
"Father Can You Hear Me", I mean, Marvin's performance is that powerful,
you'll see! Not to mention, Mary J. Blige! Mary J and Ne-Yo wrote the
theme song for this film…it is called "I Can Do Bad All By Myself", same
as the movie title.

Ok, so you've read this email to the end! Now, go to my home page at
tylerperry.com and you will see links to my Facebook and Twitter pages. I
had to get them both because so many people were pretending to be me.
Ain't that crazy? So…I have made it official! The only way to know that
you have the real page is to go through my website to get the right
address, this way it's verified. Look, I'm almost 40 years old and I'm on
Twitter! LOL. I think it's going to be fun!

One more thing. You know, I'm not supposed to do this, but I want you to
hear this since nobody is playing it on the radio. Here is a quick
commercial for the movie and then the Mary J. Blige video of her new song
"I Can Do Bad All By Myself". Listen to the words. You'll know that Mary
